The 4th Annual FPCA/FKPCV Summer Mission Trip will take place from August 2 – 8th, 2009! We’re very happy to announce that our destination will be to the Paddy Run Presbyterian Church Camp near Strasburg, Virginia in the Shenandoah Mountains. Camp Paddy Run is the official church camp of the Shenandoah Presbytery (Presbyterian Church U.S.A.). As one of its long-range goals, the Mission Commission wishes to expose our adults and young people to a variety of different mission trip opportunities in different geographical areas. This will give us all a more diverse understanding of the different kinds of ways we can help others in need with the love of Christ and our God-given abilities and talents. All FPCA and FKPCV members are welcome to come (especially the young people). The projects we are scheduled to undertake are: 1) Building two bridges over Paddy Run Creek; 2) Rebuilding an outdoor chapel; 3) Roofing the camp’s barn; 4) Rebuilding the “Tent Camp” area; 5) Repairing the “Lower Camp” cabins and bathrooms; and, 6) Painting and Waterproofing the wooden structures that need it. Other activities will be: 1) Daily Worship Services; 2) Hiking; 3) Camp fires (with S’mores and hotdogs and other delicious stuff!); 4) Swimming in the camp’s pool; 5) Playing basketball on the camp’s basketball court; 6) Canoeing; 7) White Water Rafting (if available); 8) Frisbee Football; 9) Touch Football; 10) Singing, Guitar Playing, and Piano Playing; and, much, much more! Due to the generosity of our two congregations, the cost for this trip will be reduced from $100.00 to $80.00. As always, scholarship assistance will be available. WE DO NOT WANT ANYONE TO MISS THIS WONDERFUL MISSION TRIP FOR FINANCIAL REASONS. All requests for financial assistance will be kept absolutely confidential. Please see Dr. Looker, Elder Sam Hwang, Assistant to the Pastor Susi Ennis, and/or Elder Alex Yoon if you need any financial assistance. Sign up sheets will soon be available. The deadline for receiving your $80.00 fee and signup for the 4th Annual FPCA/FKPCV Mission Trip will be Sunday, July 5, 2009. Thank you! |
